Cape Town Towers

Thanks for the reply,

In other words it is on top of Protea Park flats?

I saw the panels on the roof of the flats as i drive past there yesterday.

My coordinates are 18.5965 by 33.8948, so will i get a good signal?

Thanks

Stan

Thanks,

All i get is:

Cpt Parow North [126] (18.34.51 33.53.34) 1.462 km 98°

So what does this mean?

How do you know that the panels are pointing North?

If you hold your mouse over Parow N or Springfield, you'll see an explanation [:(] [:(]. You may need to wait for Loevenstein or Goodwood to get coverage.

Alternatively get a tester to your house. Unfortunately none of those friendly people in Cpt have registered on my site (yet), so I cann't help you.

A Sentech employee (ProAsm) published which towers has which antenna.

All towers are divided into three sectors namely 0 120 240 which is degrees from true North. Parow North has only 0 which faces out towards Plattekloof. Goodwood should be up next week, Loewenstein a bit longer.

The important thing is to get someone to do a test, if you fall on the border of the coverage area. There are many cases where the zone locator is incorrect, and the Tower Distance Calculator does not give a clear answer.

It does not cost that much (R0 to R150) and many people will save thousands if they do have coverage, because their current telephone costs are so high.

Hi,

I am in the upper part of parow (Avondale) an had the chap from mywire pop over to check if there is signal here and there is none yet to my disapointment. But he told me that the tower at Loevenstein will be up and running in about 3 to 4 weeks, maybe someone from Sentech can confim this as i also want to get rid of all this telkom equipment here (ISDN 128K)

Stan

I'm waiting for the loevenstein tower as well. There is a place reserved for my ISDN modem in my pool.
