Hi all, for some reason Capitec App won't allow me to transfer money to VALR or Luno. I've tried multiple times now and it spits out an error each time. Not so if I pay the landlord or clothing accounts, etc.

Has anyone else been having this issue?

Also Capitec, what's your problem?

switch to an actual bank. problem will be solved

I phoned them after trying to transfer to eToro and they said "we don't support online trading".

You can link your account to EasyEquities though, so I don't know what's going on there.

like FNB?
FNB is hostile to crypto as well :/ We should get a list going, banks that work well with crypto and those fighting to protect the status quo. At least then people can make informed choices and avoid the crypto scared banks.

I was reading Zero Bank may be friendly to the above. Only time will tell though.

Didnt we have a thread about FNB closing down accounts linked to people with crypto?
Nothing was ever proved or confirmed but more importantly I've heard nothing from the many other crypto users on the forum to indicate there's any issues with FNB.

I personally know of at least 5 individuals who have had their FNB accounts closed due to crypto trading

Ja that's fine, but until they join the forum and share it's kinda moot. There's a load of other people on here and IRL who use FNB to either fund local exchanges or to cash out and I haven't heard of any issues. Not disputing your claim...just saying it's not much to go on.

That's one of the big problems. If FNB just came out and clarified their stance everyone would know what they deem to be acceptable and what not. Right now it is all a guessing game which helps no one.

Ja it's annoying. Not sure what their problem is - if they feel complicit in some imaginary crime (people not paying taxes on crypto?) or if they don't really understand it or they're afraid to scare away clients. Dunno. Bank Zero have given a very fluffy & superficial indication they'll be crypto friendly but right now they still feel a bit like vaporware so we'll see.

dunno what difficulty you're hitting, but it works fine for me:

EDIT: you are paying to the Luno "Capitec registered beneficiary" right? Just checking, it will never work if you enter the account details manually because Luno's details are registered with Capitec, per the instructions here: https://www.luno.com/help/en/articles/11000092294

Thanks, I was such a banana! Searched for VALR and found them, made a payment just fine...

Apologies to Capitec!

LOL!!!! This is hilarious
Folks, now I feel that I can be at home in this forum! This is exactly the mistake I made and result I had while fighting with the Standard Bank app when trying to enter the Johannesburg municipality account details manually. Use the account details they have in the app and everything works fine. ;)
