So, today I tried to sign up to an invoicing platform (Paymo). Capitec blocked my payment, and when I phone to ask them what's going on, they say it's because the platform allows receiving payments through them (through integrations with Paypal etc.) and they are "not licensed" to allow my transaction.

This is the second time it's happened to me. How can Capitec decide not to let me use my money?

This isn't even anything dodgy, it's just a project management tool.

Does anyone know how I can escalate this? It's absolutely ridiculous!

Capitec customer service is pretty sht. Only reason why it doesnt bother me too much is becuase the bank fees is cheap.

Here is your answer. Escalation will not help. You will get the same answer from Capitec and also from the SARB. The only bank in South Africa allowed to process any payment related to Paypal is FNB.

Worked with Nedbank.
