I entered my online banking pin incorrectly a few times and shortly afterwards received an email saying this was detected and I should verify whether or not it was me logging in and that they have deactivated some of my online banking features for safety purposes. I left it and received another email a few days later and then one today saying they are updating something or other and I should validate my online access.... These mails went to my inbox and not spam.

Anyone had a similar experience? I don't think its legit but I don't want any issues logging in in future either.

you needed more than 3 tries to enter your pin? :p

What method are they expecting you to verify it with? as far as I can recall, the time I forgot my PIN I was locked out after the third attempt - had to go to a branch to sort it.

Its coincidence. Most of my current phising email is for Capitec this week. Last week it was FNB, previous ABSA.

Phishing.

Banks will NEVER as in NEVER ask you to verify anything online via email.

BEWARE! Another fraud email about online access is going around. Please, do not engage! We will NEVER EVER EVER ask you to confirm your details via a link. If you received something like the following, please forward it to [email protected] before you delete it

From Capitec's Facebook page.

Report it or ignore it.

Capitec do not send emails. Ever

If you get locked out, call their help line and after verification, they will reset it for you. Same applies if you enter the number generated by the code generator incorrectly 3 times

Extremely helpful bank and staff.
