Capitec Global One accounts?

Will apply for it as soon as my ID comes through from home affairs.

I recently moved from Standard Bank and I can honestly say that I'm loving my new bank. The interest I earned in the last month was enough to cover my bank charges, and I find that to be an amazing incentive.

I'm finding that my GlobalOne account is costing me less money (and effort) than the Student Achiever package from STD bank and this just places a wide smile on my face :)

One other thing I have really come to enjoy is their internet banking system. It is minimalistic and lean, and I think it's brilliant! I only ever use IB to pay beneficiaries, ergo I'm not missing the bells and whistles that STD offered and I certainly will not miss the hassles that they gave me.

The one thing that always frustrated me the most was that I ALWAYS had to go into the bank atleast once a month to ask them to increase my Electronic Payment Limit (I might be getting the term wrong, but the meaning should still be clear) from R0 to something usable. Their retort to the question 'why can't you set my limit to a permanent value?' was: 'You can't support the payments because you don't earn a salary.'

This was in spite of me always having MORE money in my account than the monthly limit that I would walk-in to request. This left a bad taste in my mouth and was the main reason behind my big move.

It has just accrued to me..

If I am getting 5% PA - I am losing money as inflation is higher than that?
Yes and it's all the reserve bank's fault. We need some new leadership in this country as they're screwing up every sector of the country. I earn less interest now than 4 years ago despite having more than double the money in the account.

I hate it when banks try and tell us how we can spend our money. This is why I left FNB. Now I see Capitec is first to offer a debit card.

Well, personally I love the low interest rates, can pay my homeloan debt quicker.

The first to offer a debit card? Maybe you want to rethink what you said and correct it.
