Hey all.
This might be a newb question but oh well...

My dsl connection quit on me a couple of days ago so I figured I had reached the cap. I entered the details of another account I have, which didn't want to work for some reason so I re-entered the original account details of the "capped?" account and for some reason it's working again. ( I can browse international sites etc.)

Am I somehow going to be charged extra for this? Did I do something stupid?

If its IS no, if its Telkom no (at least I have never heard of an ISP coming for someone after the bandwidth is used, I mean, its their job to cap u, so if they stuff it up its their problem). Enjoy your "freebies" while they last. They might have something in their Terms and conditions tho...

If you have a pay per megabyte service with your ISP, then yes, you will get charged for it. If it's a prepaid account, you may get charged for it, depends on the ISP really.

If it's a standard Telkom account, then say thank you, haven't heard of people getting charged for it ;)

Welcome to the MyADSL Forums! :D

Have you logged into your control panel or something similar with that username and password? Then you would be able to see if you are indeed capped or not. Never assume you are capped if you account just suddenly dies by the way - could be about 1000 other factors that could've caused it.

Who is your ISP? What account to you have? IS/SAIX, Prepaid/Monthly/Per-MB?

Whoa, thanks for the swift replies :P
I have a telkom 2 gig account with which, when last I could check, I downloaded 3.9 gigs. For some reason the usage tracker (secure.telkomsa.net) won't log me in so I can't see what I'm on now. Does Telkom have some other control panel I can use?
