Evening All....

It appears that any site that runs through the WBS proxy server is dead ... ie everything not ending in .wbs.co.za ...

I wonder if this is coincidence since I've just reached my cap ....

Anyone else currently experiencing this ?

(Not that any other wbs customer could answer this atm .. unless like me they route via ssh to their own proxy servers ;-) )

Yeah, happened to me earlier, the 1st meg over my cap and everything was dead. Helpdesk number just rang and rang without answer, bought an extra GB online and everything worked again instantly.

But I refuse to pay for the extra gig as their service is still supposed to "work" ...aarrggh.

Well, Luis is now aware of it and looking into it.

I am sure that by morning there will be a bit of a **** storm ....

everyone seems to have this problem... there is definately something wierd going on here... it happend to me aswell, after many calls to the helpdesk:(
they said there was nothing wrong, but after i gave them my account number and thru up a storm it all of o sudden started working again...

Today is the 29th... I am going to get capped tonight by downloading some stuff I need and then I'll let you all know if I also experience the death after cap

Problem does not seem to affect everyone....

During testing last night they (wbs) could not re-create the problem on their side ... nasty bug to track ...

My experience is that the only traffic affected by this is HTTP (port80) traffic. SSH etc still run at capped speed ... POP3 outside their network STILL stinks ...

Guess it's pointless to rant on here ...

Well, I can still VNC & SSH, e-mail does not work for me at all though.

I concur. Not everyone has this issue. I've been capped for a while, but still have usable internet access.

* Usable = 8kB/sec ave. Max 50kB/s

I've been capped most of the month and I had useable service.
useable - avg 7kB, max 7kB

In fact, this month everything worked for me as advertised. First month since they went live that I had that.

Sure, the insane port shaping still blows ( 30bytes - 800bytes /s in dc++ ), but online gaming and HTTP worked great.

It is sad that not everyone is as lucky though. I wonder why I am...

One can only hope things start stabilizing on the iBurst network soon ...

To think I actually WANT to give Telkom money ... they just won't get it because they cannot deliver a service....ADSL over Fiber PLEASE...

IRC just won't connect since last night, and i still have 40mb to go!!

They better fix it or, or... or i'll tell my mommy!!!!

OK I am downloading now and will leave the download running till I get capped. Once I am capped we'll see what happens. This should happen by tomorrow morning latest

Hi Jason,

so, after the 1st cap you were completely DEAD ... and then after an additional 1GB and cap you're now fine ?

If so please PM me your wbs username so I can forward it on to Luis.

Regards

R

I couldn't get capped- performance today of iBurst is so poor I still cannot reach cap, got over 428mbyte left over :(

I've seen 'capped death'. From my experience its login session based.

My solution ... logout/login as few times (2-5) until you get a good session, then make your router hold that session as long as you want (or the router can).

Currently on a good one ... was getting sustained ave. of 72 Kbps on a long download last night. Just wish WBS could make things more predicatable & stable.

Guess this topic will be quiet until some of us end up capped again ....

Roman .. my experience was different ... no matter how many times I re-authenticated... no joy...
