Hi,

I got WiMAX(Telkom) the other day and I have 2 questions for all the smart guys on the forum.

- In the manual/userguide the WiMAX installers gave me, it says that my bandwidth is limited to 2GB, can anyone confirm this ?
- Can I use more than one session at a time ? (My WebAfrica says it can handle up to 4 sessions, but it seems the one pc "logs out" my other pc when I try to create another session.

Thanks !!! :)

Your first question regarding the cap:
That's absolute bollocks. The WiMAX exquipment places no restriction on usage. The amount of bandwidth you are allowed to use is determined by the cap you buy from your ISP, be it Openweb, WebAfrica, Axxess or even Telkom itself. What I have noticed is when you have a Local 30gb Account running on the IS backbone (the company responsible for managing your bandwidth), you have full international access for quite a while before you are switched to local only.

Your second question:
Only one pc can connect through the WiMAX tower. What I have done to surcombe this is to enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on one pc and connect through that pc with all the others. Works fine for me, but unfortunately I have to leave that PC on permanently. which doesn't bode well in the times of load-shedding

Edit : WebAfrica's statement that you can have 4 simultaneous connections means that you can connect from 4 different locations(eg Office, Home, Friend, etc) using the same account at the same time.

Hi,

thanks for the prompt response.
Also, I have ICS enabled in my setup too.
