Okay okay, I have no idea if this is possible... anyways here goes...

I've got 2 pc's.. one connected to my HDTV in the living room and one in my own room..

The PC in my room is connected to a Netgear DGN2200 wifi router and the PC in the living room has an 802.11n wifi adapter... Both are on the network and so on..

Basically.. I'm considering 2 options if it is even possible:

1) Get a capture card for the living room PC and capture the video signal from the HDTV and stream it via VLC or something over the network. Questions: Are there any capture cards that take HDMI as input? not that it really matters but I'm wondering.. AND Any recommended capture cards for my situation?

2) Get a "device" that can take HDMI or Component input and directly transmit it over the Wifi network ("device" configured to be on the network using a PC similar to how a router work). Question: Are there any such devices?

Thanks alot in advance.

You'll struggle to get a capture card that takes in an HD signal. Most either take in an RF signal or use the 3 RCA (video, audio left, audio right) cables.
The only card I know of to take an HD signal is this one, which you may struggle to get in SA.

That one mentions HD recording only from component input. The DSTV HD-PVR only outputs HD on the HDMI, or am I missing something?

I thought as much.
Here's an HDMI one. Once again, not sure of the price or availability in SA.

It really doesn't actually have to be top HD video so 3 RCA could also work... I just want a cheap way of sending the tv signal via my wifi network to my other PC even if the quality is a bit bad.. could be cool to have an ALL-IN-ONE tv wifi broadcaster that doesnt require a PC with software but its not always the cheapest option.. I guess?

Won't HDCP be an issue for HDMI? I'm pretty sure the hdmi output on DSTV equipment uses hdcp.

I'm not exactly sure what HDCP is but I'm not going to use the output from the DSTV decoder.. but instead going to use the output from the actual TV.. 3RCA or HDMI...

HDCP is a form of copy protection on top of hdmi or dvi. You will need to to test component out. If your tv is receiving digital input, it might not do a conversion to analog (component in this case). I have not used any sets with hdmi out, but I would be surprised if it strips the hdcp signal.
