I'm finally sorted out. The officer that assisted apologized and completed the accident report. I got a AR number and OB number, which insurance is happy with.

Apparently, when you arrive at the station, you must request an AR number and not a case number.

Well, you must say you want to report an accident, AR = Accident Report.

Ahhh ok, yeah if you wanted to open a "case" then the cops get a bit off about things...

Reporting an accident is much easier for them since they fill in the form, give you the number and then forget about it.
