I recently bought a silver calsuim battery.only to hear rumors afterwards that this type of battery needs higer charging voltages than a normal lead acid battery and that it is in a semi discharged state constantly.

If there are any techies out there that can verify and give advice on how to maintain this battery it would be very much appreciated

Battery in question

Exide 54AH sealed silver calsuim

http://www.exide.co.za/SilverCalciumBattery.htm read this link.

The ideal charging voltage for a hybrid battery is 14.4V and for a calcium battery 14.8V. However, this does not mean that a calcium battery cannot be fitted in place of a hybrid battery. Tests have shown that the calcium battery will operate at a slightly lower state of charge in the car.

With your car idling and at 2000-3000rpm measure the voltage across the battery terminals and see what you get just for interest sake.

I would not worry about it as I doubt there is anything you can do really.
