Hey Guys please help on the following:

I'm a foreigner (don't hate LOL!) and here on a work permit (3 yrs - to be extended when expires). I just attained my SA driver's and ready to buy my FIRST car (used of course). Already have an offer from a private seller (good friend). I don't really want to go to a dealership because I'm in love with the particular car, and the price is very reasonable.

My question is, which finance house is best to approach? I want a 54 month repayment period (gainful empoyment evidence not a prob).

Please give me any other advice!:)

Buy cash. Offer your friend only 1/2 of trade. :D

Not possible. I kindda spent too much money relocating so there isn't enough in the piggy. I need finance, and think the price has gone as low as I could with him. Come on guys I'm serious here...

Go into the bank. Don't bother with online stuff. Also try the AA. They have some good info on buying used on their website.

How old is the car?

For private finance - try Wesbank p2p

Thanks for xrapidx/rorz0r for the replies.:)

The car is a 1999 model A3 Audi 1.8T. I don't think my bank (Standard) will facilitate such a deal, unless they have a facility I don't know about.

I will give Wesbank and AA a shot, in that order, thanks guys

I think you're only chance is with Wesbank p2p - the car is older than five years.
