If you bump your car in your own garage and no other parties are involved, are you still required to report it to the police station?

If you are insured through a decent insurer no, if it's one of these direct insurers probably yes because they try making it as difficult as possible to claim.

Nah my wife recently scraped the car on a pillar while parking.

They didn't even send an assessor out as it was such a minor issue.

No you aren't required to report it to the police since it happened on private property.

Hell I reversed into my girlfriends car a year or so ago on my own property, and even then the cops woudn't open an accident report since it happened on private property. They did provide me an incident number though and that was enough to placate the insurance company.

Nope, my wife was once pulling the car in, sneezed and plowed it into the garage wall, needed a new bumper, contacted the insurance and was done, yes premiums did go up though.
