Can anyone recommend a good broker? I'm based in Fourways should that be necessary.

The car in question is a 2002 Subaru WRX wagon...

Outsurance is R2k
Miway is R1k

Waiting on a few more quotes now

Off topic: lekker car man
Agreed, one of my all time favorites, it's the one before the bug eyes version?

That's a huge whack of insurance for such an old car, what's the value that they are offering to insure it for?

Used Bestcare in Krugersdorp for many years…..top notch !! Ask for Marc.

It's the bug eye :). Definitely an amazing car.

Didn't check what they are insuring for but once I've got all the quotes, I will look at all of them

If I have the right vehicle it seems the market/retail is R75K+-

So enlighten me?
I answered with aM&M retail/market value and you start saying wierd things about BMW's etc.
Insurers work on the value of the vehicle be it:
Trade/Retail =
Market
Retail

Then they underwrite the risk.

Those WRXs are racing machines not surprised most insurers see high risk re the premium loading. Amazing exhaust note, one of my all time favorite cars especially in that electric blue.

Got mine insured through a broker for R1000

Yip yip...have you seen how I've been pumping info in that MX-5 thread

Love the boxer on a well oiled Scooby

It never ceases to amaze me how a scooby thats over 10 years old and costs around R170 000 is a bigger head turner then a 1 million rand car.Just love it :)

Typical "no middle man" pricing.

Do they just bargain on nobody shopping around?

Actually they (the direct players) have the best motor calculation methodology and rating systems in the market.
They are also very selective and they sometimes outquote themselves rather than declining.
I personally detest them for their practices and handling of direct clients but you have to respect them in a few ways unfortunately.
