Hi Guys,

Me again :p

Have a query, I bought a car from my friend its still in his name and we haven't changed that over yet.

Just want to know, I have been struggling to get him off his backside and come with me to renew the license...

It is now End of Feb and the License Expired end of November.

My query is how hectic are the Fee's gonna be?

Thanks Guys,
J

Saw someone's "fine" for that... it's like R150 or something. It wasn't too hectic. Maybe you should run up some speeding fines.... since it's his car he's going to be in a heap of trouble if he lands fines (no, this is a joke, don't do it :p )

You should be less concerned with the fees, and more concerned with fines & the possibility of being involved in an accident in an unlicensed car... Shall I go out on a limb and wager that you're probably not insured either? :p

Penalties on the late renewal won't be major, but get a roadworthy done so long and kick your friend in the nuts.

I have insurance, well I pay him for it at the moment I am loaded as a 2nd driver on the car... Its not an old car at all its a 2008. Why do I need a roadworthy?

Under correction, but I *think* it's mandatory when a change of ownership is done on the eNaTIS system. Also, as the car is currently not licensed it is technically not roadworthy and hence not insured.

Wasn't required of me when I sold my car end of last year?

But yes, driving with an expired license is a booboo waiting to happen. Being in an accident with it would mean you're not insured.

Ah ok, that's not the issue just want to find out how much the penalties are going to set me back :D

Roadworthy will be required now if your going to register the car in your name, and the license penalty will be the full fee depending on the car type + the amount devided into 12 so than you just add up the months in arrears and pay that. Register the car in your name much better then u know ur safe trust me you dont wanna get all those fines......

If the vehicle is going to remain on your pal's name then you are looking at annual licensing fee + 10% penalties of ALF fee x 4 months for late payment + 1/12 adjustment fees of ALF x 3 months. If you were in KZN I would have been able to give you an exact amount but fees differ per province.

PM me if you need to know anything else :)
