Car lighter

Lets say my car lighter has gotten stuck and the knob has broken off and when it gets hot it doesn't pop out.What would happen?

Continuesly draw current and get hot. Switch the car off and pull it out with tweezers/pliers. Alternatively if it runs on a isolated fuse remove the fuse.
