Hi Guys,

I need super strong double sided tape for my new aftermarket mirrors (very expensive) that stick over the stock mirrors. What tape do you advise.I heard the 3M super strong automotive tape is good.Any options u guys know. will go check out the usual places Builders, Midas etc but want your opinion.

dankie

If you can get the 3M Automotive stuff then go for that, alternatively try Pattex No More Nails, that stuff sticks like cotch in a wool jersey...

Can you post a pic of the mirrors?

Might help with advise...

I swear by ABE Epidermix 372 for ANYTHING requiring ultra strength.Available at builders as a two part epoxy resin.

They are convex mirrors

Huh you're sticking mirrors on your mirrors? But why? Oh I see you said their convex... aaaah, but why?

Because thats how they have designed plus they look sweet :D

I would go for the 3M automotive tape. Bond strength is a major factor, but you also want to be sure that whatever you use does not attack the reflective coating.

Go with the ABE Epidermix 372. Its strong as steel. Gives you lots of time to center and make sure the mirrors are straight. The only headache I forsee is stopping the mirror from sliding down (gravity) while the epoxy cures. Takes about 30 minutes for it to start to harden.

They really don't...

Also remember that if you use double sided there will be a gap between the new mirror and the old one, coupled with the curved nature of the mirror means the aftermarket one could stick out from the housing and look even more terrible!

I'm with ScottulusMaximus on this one, they really do look terrible and discoloured and impractical and they'll only look worse once you stick them on and ruin your perfectly good mirrors.

You clearly dont have an eye for style.Besides that fact its looks like the bomb there is the safety aspect.Designed for night time driving and because its convex you can see blind spots better.

Look beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder but if there was any safety aspect what so ever manufacturers would include them as standard even if it's only on the expensive models.

Take a pic once you've ruined your car and lets see maybe it does look nice once completed... but i don't have hope.

my car is quite old 2005 and its more of a performance and not a luxury car.Reason for choosing yellow is i have a theme going on the exterior and have other yellow bits and bobs.

The looks are subjective and you're welcome to say it looks amazing. But it's NOT safe and will NOT help with night driving in fact I'm pretty sure it's illegal. Not sure the exact curve on these but usually a car mirror has a concave curve on the outside edge to help with the blind-spot.

My point about the gap stands though.

I agree regarding the convex and the gap it might be an issue.Might have to put me double sided tape in the middle and less on the sides.
