Good day guys,

I would like to convert the centre console in my Alfa to take double din music player. As you can see on the picture below, on the left you have the original console and on the right is the modified version.

I need someone around Pta or Jozi who can do this conversion for me, somekind of a fibre glass specialist.

Kind Regards,

Checkout the Alfa Club for guy's they trust. www.alfaclub.co.za .

I once had a cellphone car kit removed from a 156 with similar dashboard and if you don't know how to remove the dials for air-con etc properly they will break and have to be replaced. Once broken they just keep rotating and don't change the selection or air or temp or direction.

Have you purchased the modified one or you need it made? If you have the modified one then any any dealership or alfa mechanic (on his weekend) could do it for you. If you don't I'd recommend you buy a pre-molded one. See the lip around the player. It's going to be difficult to get that looking professional in my view.

Finished product looks cool though.

I cannot find a pre-molded one, my option is to get a second hand centre console to play with, if I mess up, then I can reinstate the original.

One more option is to get Centre air vent for facelift Alfa 156 and try to fit it in my car, and put navigator where you have the onboard computer.

Thanks though for the link, I will give them a shout, perhaps they have better ideas, I want to make the interior look good(a bit high tech).

Both good ideas. The Alfa club guys should know where to get spares too.

That was mostly a rhetorical question...

I can see why he WANTS to do it... but an Alfa is pretty decently designed inside.. messing with it will stuff it up... and make it more prone to breaking than it already is.

I was thinking that all cars have conversion kits available for them from the dealers. The usually have different dash places available specifically for this kind of change (radio to sat-nav). I'm sure if you ask the dealer they will have new versions or if you call around scrap yards (there are some Alfa specialist ones in the yellow pages and online) they should have the complete dash for you.
