A simple loose connection on the battery terminals will also give similar symptoms, dont always trust dealerships to tighten the connection, after disconnecting/reconnecting the battery.
It won't crank nicely if that's the case - and it seems it does.

More likely a ground from the fuse box/ecm/dashboard has got disconnected/corroded/broken.
 
we had a 160 GL , quite amazing a car like this still goes and is easily repairable, even in terrible conditions
and people wonder why they dont make cars like they used to.

because there isnt a profit margin on easy to fix cars.
