Hi everyone

I am selling my Hyundai Elantra 2012 with 50k on the clock. Many reasons why I am selling this car which I won't get into at the moment and need to find something similar. My settlement amount is R89000 so I am hoping to get around R130000 for the car which means in theory I will get around R40000 for a deposit.

My current car repayments are R2600 so it will have to be a car around R140000.

I however have things I require and use all the time. USB/Bluetooth, A/C, power steering etc. I am looking at either the 2013 Honda Ballade or the Kia Cerato. As I don't know anyone who actually owns any of these cars can anyone give me suggestions and why?

Thanks

Dont buy the Kia not at all, simple reason nice exterior but on the inside you can feel and this is me speaking that the car was built by someone very stingy. Just my opinion

I think the reasons you are selling is actually a very important to the conversation around what you should be buying.

Also if you are selling the Hyundai because of problems, then you definitely don't want to buy the Kia.

@Pearson6, I beg to differ. I find Kia ideal if you want more features than engine performance. Would love to buy the Rio Tec, test drove it an hour ago.

The Kia cerato is a really nice car. Obviously its not a golf 7 in terms of quality but much much cheaper and overall a good car. comes with a service plan, well specced and if you drive the speed limit gives good consumption. And recently they have been having some good specials on them. In fact I think they currently have a special on them (like 35k off retail price). My suggestion would be go have a test drive, it will make your decision much easier.

Okay since you asked. I bought the car brand new in 2012 as there were no second hand ones on the market at the time. Since brand new I have had handling and suspension problems. I have taken it in at least 6 times for them to look at. At least twice have they replaced the suspension system and I have had about enough.

I have dealt with the dealer principal as well as the regional manager who state that is the way the car drives and that's it. I have spoken to head office who say I must go to the ombudsman. I really don't have the time for this nonsense so I am planning on changing brands.

If it's the 1.8, if I look at Autotrader that amount you're looking to get for your Elantra seems pretty low?

I have the 1.6 ... so all I am hoping for is that amount, anything over it will be a benefit.

As the OP says, it's a 1.6 and this is the only one that is close to it. http://www.autotrader.co.za/used-ca...ikeandcarmileageranges/50-000-km-to-74-999-km. Remember you are looking at Full Retail, so there is plenty of room to come down on that number. Also, if it not going to a Hyundai Dealer, it will also be lower. Expectations therefore become marginal at that point.

I disagree completely.

Elantra is identical under the skin to the Cerato so you best try something else.
