So my son is now 16 months and i need to get another car seat.

The one im using reclines and goes up to 18kgs, but we borrowed it and need to return it.

So i see there is a car seat from age 1-8 that i like but doesnt recline

Is it suitable to have one that doesnt recline at his age ?

or is it fine to go with it

Well we have a 22 month old and sleeping upright is not comfortable, it also renders the head cushion protection less effective when the kids head is lying forward.

You want a safe seat, don't count your pennies on this one, and the Bambino is the cheapest in its class, I did the research, lend some money if you have to.

yeah thats what im thinking as well , that i would like for him to be comfortable

Just to add.

It has isofix = Safe, and easy to move between cars (we sometimes move it between our 2 cars, obviously don't have money to buy 2 seats)

It can recline with an easy lever that you pull = you can start off with the chair being upright, and when they fall asleep you pull the lever and recline them.

It goes up to 36kg and the head-rest also moves up/down to accommodate their height.

and yeah isofix ..both our cars have isofix but isofix is a pricey difference

Probably a good alternative, other than Isofix and Reclining, seems to be almost the same. Whats the price?

We recently drove 7Hrs to Durban from JHB, trust me, the reclining came in very handy.

One more top tip - Take your old tablet (I'm sure you have one lying around the house), buy a piece of velcro, thread it through the tablet case and attach it the the back of the head-rest. Download a crap load of cartoons.

that is the initial plan

just dont want to get him hooked on phones and tablets

but that would work wonders :D

Did you make the purchase yet? I understand you are on a budget. You don't need to splurge on a R3K Ferrari baby seat by any means, but please do not buy a second-hand car seat for your baba. A brand new seat, from a reputable, mid-price brand, is better than a second-hand seat at any price point. Check reviews, recalls & safety ratings online.

The main problems with second-hand car seats are that you never know whether they were involved in collisions and are damaged in ways you can't see & the spongy bits can deteriorate over 2-3 years of use by first owner leading to a risk of SIDS(more applicable for an infant). After 5 years of normal use most manufacturers say the seats shouldn't be used. I also would have concerns about previous owners' hygiene.

Parenting classes, creches & baby seat manufacturers advise against second-hand car seats (& baby mattresses btw). Even low impact collisions render some warranties void & several manufacturers advise you to get a new seat afterwards, because the seats can be damaged in ways you can't detect. Also, the mid-range brands make safety improvements over time, so it is better to get the latest model with safety improvements, rather than one from 2-3 years ago. I'm not going to go into SIDS. That's a booster seat, not a baby car seat.

We went from pram car seat, to toddler car seat then booster seat

Don't know how big your kid is but mine was in there car seat till almost 3 yrs old. Take your kid to the shop to size, if they too small seat belt won't fit comfortably

hi thanks for the advise

i bought the seat but didnt get around to fitting it into the car

my kid is 1 year 4 months and he is big , this car seat is a group 2 and 3
