More baby questions :)

1. Are there any detrimental effects to letting a baby spend an amount of time in a car seat daily? On occasion, I let baby Blu sit in her car seat (which is currently fixed on top of her pram) in my home office while I am working - she likes this seat as it allows her room to look around and she even falls asleep in it sometimes.) If not good, I would rather know this early on and make other seating arrangements in my office!

2. At what age can you start giving babies tea? I have the rooibos tea especially for babies, but am wondering when / if I should give it? I know it is not a replacement for a meal, so why would one then give it?

I'm very confused, but we'll leave that part out for now.

Tea is fine from about 6 - 8 months on I think.

Eish why do people over-analyse parenting these days? What's wrong with letting the kids bump their heads into doors and walls every now and then? :D

Just kidding of course, I wouldn't have a clue about your questions. Although I don't see a problem with the car seat as it shouldn't be much different to a toddler seat. I mean sitting is still just sitting.

I was worried about the development of her back / spine if she sat in a car seat too long.

I am a first time parent; hence the paranoia :)

Rooibos is ok, if given in moderation (ie 1 bottle per day). I have a friend who used to give her son rooibos tea all day & all night. the result? all his teeth were rotten & had to be surgically removed.

I also dont see anything wrong with letting little blu sit in a carseat.

We leave our little one in her seat occasionally, especially if she is sleeping, we don't exactly want to go and wake her up.

I really don't see that it would be a problem.

Depending on her age, just get her a thing called "Doughnut" it's a padded cushion with a raised padded edge. I worked wonders for the twins. We left them on it and they sat, played and slept on them during the day.

There is one on here for illustration purposes. But you get different shapes and sizes.

Development of the spine is a legitimate concern with overuse of car seats and rockers. It can be detrimental to their crawling ability. Our second boy had to see a physio because he wasn't developing properly, and it turned out to be due to his sitting in the rocker too much. Once we took care to let him out enough, he was fine. Just don't overdo it I guess - I can ask my wife.

As for tea, we always gave the boys tea as a substitute for water after four months, maybe a bit earlier. Steep a teabag into some lukewarm water with no milk, and perhaps add a touch of sugar if you're into that sort of thing. They love it. Unfortunately our boys have developed a rabid rooibos dependency now so just watch out :p
