Car sound system advise

Last week i bought City Golf 2006 model for every day run around.
Since petrol prices going mad.
It has standerd cd player with two small speakers.
I want to buy one mp3 player, one sub, two 6x9 speakers and amp.
Dont want very very load sound but good quality sound, must be load enough so i can enjoy bass.
Want to spend +/- R3000.
I appreciate your advise.
 
VWs with sound are getting stolen a lot atm. Be sure to invest in a gearlock or something too if you're planning on parking in not so hot areas.

It has gear lock, alarm is not so good that im gonna change very soon. thnx.

dont ever use 6x9's with a sub. The best for quality is a component set. since you have a steep budget, buy a set that fits your door panels, otherwise installation will cost more to build panels for your doors (for bigger speakers). Dont forget you need an amp.

get a ported box built. I hope you know installation will set you back around a grand.
 
You will be fine with a standard 6inch split system. The wattage is dependant on the amp you purchase and exactly what you want from the system. Are you after quantity or quality? Forget the 6X9s as they are a jack of all trades, but masters of none.

I would recommend a bridgable 2000W 4 channel amp, 500Wsplit system and a decent 1000W sub. Make sure you have it professionally installed! Your budget would be fine in this respect and the quality is dependant on the brands you choose. The quantity of sound is more than sufficient for an every day brain hemorrhage. Make sure your splits are good quality as you dont want all bass and no mids/trebs. No point pumping distortion through the system.

EDIT: Dont look at PMPO Wattage ratings as they are Chinese thumbsuck figures - always check the RMS output. Remember, a 4 channel 2000W amp will distribute the amp however you choose to configure it but to a max of 2000W so dont be fooled into buying a 2000W sub with a 2000W amp as you will drain all the power and leave none for the splits. Hence the 1000W sub 500W split recommendation. You might also consider caps and a separate battery for this type of sytem but then you start blowing your budget. Talk to a reputable sound installation place, be honest about your budget and they will sort you out 9 times out of 10.

Install an A/C unit in your car, as well as double laminated windows and sound proofing in the doors and roof. This will greatly improve your bass, since you would never have to open your windows, and any bass that I cannot hear outside is by definition good bass.

Also place a cover over the amp and sub. This not only prevents theft but is also to your advantage at a job interview, since an amp/sub in plain view will cast doubt on any tertiary qualifications you have or claim to have.

Also, "advise" is a verb while "advice" is a noun. As in: "I require car audio advice" or "Please advise me regarding car audio". A useful trick here is to remember that a verb is a "werkwoord", and that work makes you sweaty. The "s" in "advise" denotes this sweatiness.

I reckon the sound proofing is a bit OTT unless you really want to spend some money and enter comps. For this budget I would stick to quality components instead of sacrificing that aspect for some sound proofing, double laminate and a cover for the amp and sub.

The interview thing is quite funny. I dont know of a single interview where the interviewee has been asked to open his boot so the interviewer can inspect it. Having a sub is not a reflection on your ability to perform a job. Just turn the music down when entering the office premises.

thats alot of music and removes the need for cd's :)

Too much work trying to put splits in Citi golf doors lol, not worth the time and money if you just want something decent, and they cause to many rattles. It sounds good in all other cars, cause they have hollow mouldings etc.

Radio Sony Mp3 with USB - R1500.
Get a custom Citi backboard from autostyle. R100
Get 430W Pioneer 6X9s - +/-R400 most places
Get a cheapo amp, 600W x2/4 - R500 max
Install R300 I think.
Get some mids if you like lol!:p
Starsound wiring kit R80 if u like
Under 3K:)

Decent sound, those 6X9s are very powerful try to get the 5way version.
