I have a BMW 316i '95 model. Would it be a mission to install a sound system? Ie. Mp3 player etc..

It's not that big of a mission, but it ain't no quick job either. Luckily the battery is in the boot, so if you add some amps, that helps a lot. I think your biggest problem will be getting the bass into the cabin, those boots are pretty good sealed.

Isn't the radio on the that model built in?
So it'd be difficult to change it?

Yes, it is built in. I am wondering if it would be a huge hassle to remove it, if possible and what would the cost be. (Just for removal of the original face, new mp3 player, and installation thereof)

With car sound the possibilities become infinite...all depend on the colour of you money I suppose..

For the costs, you will have to drive from shop to shop and ask, don't just go to the first shop and do it there, some will be more expensive than others, maybe ask them how much it will be fitting the radio...?

Tell me about it...

I have an all round Infinity set-up in my Benz (1993 190E 2.3)....Pioneer headunit with Ipod and USB connection the the glovebox, 4'' coaxials Kappa's in the dash, 5 1/2'' coaxials Kappa's in the rear, a 12'' Infinity reference sub in the boot all connected to a A5350 5-channel reference Infinity amplifier. Sounds good, but I struggling with bass in the cabin at cruising 'altitude'...there is a petrol tank between the boot and the backseat...

here are some pics:

I hardly have any bass at this speed:

Nice looking setup, need to hide the cables though. LoL @ Speed.

But, :wtf: is with the petrol tank setup?

Not bad- that speed at those revs.

How's the road noise at 'cruising speed'?
Cruising altitude, you mean...:D...

dude, at 4500 rpm, that 4 cylinder 2.3 liter motor purrs....considering the car is 17 years-old it is extremely well sealed.....considering in the 1.6 Polo at 160km/h it gets quite noisy....

Well, I did not want to cut into the body of the car. It only comes with four cut-outs for speakers. Trying to keep it as original as possible. I am rather pi$$ed off at the installers because I got that alternator whine....they charged me R1k for the install alone....(they have since closed)...

R1k for installation alone is a decent price?

I must admit that I was so impatient to have my sound installed...it took me a year to buy the hardware piece by piece and when the woofer was bought, I just had to have it installed....

impatience costs you....
