Car speedometers

Do cars that come out with Satnav use the GPS for the speedometer reading or not. thanks.

I would think not due to the fact that one might not always be able to get a sat reading (e.g. in a tunnel).

No - not from satnav..

The speedo actually works from the gearbox (well in the older cars anyway) - newer models electronically...

The instrument cluster by the normal means but the Satnav will also display kmph.
