Hi everyone,

I have been reading all of the car tracker threads on here for the last hour. 90% of comments say that they don't want trackers because they don't want stolen cars back. I agree with this, however, I would really like my car back if it still contains my 18 month old son in his car seat that takes an engineering degree to get him out of in less than 2 minutes.

Is there anyone here who can perhaps share something positive around tracking devices? Also, which company then? I get completely random feedback of anything between 0 stars and 5 stars for every single provider out there.

My argument is - if there is a 1% chance of car getting hijacked with him inside, and a tracker can provide a 1% chance of recovering him, I'm going to install it. Hope someone here can please share something to help me sleep a bit better tonight.

P.S. Background for this is that we live close to, and drive daily on known hijack arteries in Gauteng, huge component of which is my wife and child in a VW Polo. So as a responsible father, I have to foresee and do what I can to mitigate the risk.

Thanks

They are all rubbish.. They either never work and criminals know how to jam the signal.. But goodluck.

C-Track was a little bit more advanced than Car Track around 2018. You were about to see a lot more information on their app including car location, speed, km driven, last start, last stop, is the car locked? etc.

Haven’t used a tracker since then though so I don’t know how everyone is at the moment.

Matrix is really good. You’ll need to go for the fancy version that includes panic buttons and an app to track.

Tracker is alright.
Netstar is just okay.

Thanks. Just curious, why do you say Netstar is just okay? Based on e.g the app, or an incident?

Thank you. Just for better understanding - considering the reasoning I give in the OP, do you mean that it is better to not have it than have it?

Our business fleet using matrix.

Had a hijacking a few months back and vehicle was recovered under an hour later before they got to the device. So very good response imho.

There is a hijacking button as well but they call before dispatching, which is understandable so if your phone is in the car, response might be very delayed.

They should not hurt the child.
