Hi all,

I have an A3 that I bought 3 or so years ago and I have had to do a major repair to the engine with Audi, removing parts batteries etc.
After getting the vehicle back the car has two very LOUD and long beeps, Audi has indicated to me that this is a previous tracking device that had been installed in the car and is malfunctioning & causing the beeps.
I would like to take it to who installed it and help me stop the beeping from happening.

I do not have any accounts with a tracking company and the unit was installed before I purchased the vehicle.

I have to first identify who has installed it so I can get it sorted.
I called all the major tracking companies (Matrix, Tracker, Cartrack, Netstar, Ctrack) and gave them my vehicles info, Reg / Vin. But no luck.

Maybe someone here can help me ID who's unit it might be. The only thing I have to identify it is a small black button pad placed next to the steering wheel. (Please see the photo)

Does anyone have this in their vehicle or know who would install a unit with a button like this? Any help would really be appreciated, its driving me NUTS..

My vehicle had a panic button like that - it was skytrax which is owned by Tracker.

Looks like you have been to all the players in the game

Pushed the button a few times when I got it. Obviously its not connected to an account with whoever installed it anymore.

I might stop by a tracker installer to see if he can tell me if its one of theirs, at least how to disable the beep.

Originally the guy who was helping me with the service indicated that it was an issue with the battery.
But its not a low battery, its a brand new battery plus one of the Audi engineers pointed out to me that it was from the Tracking unit.
An audi low siren is just a long beep. This is a short beep then a loooooong beep.

I found another button under the steering wheel.

Sounds like an immobilizer/anti-hijacking device that has been disabled.

Usually what happens is it gets triggered if for example the door is opened with the engine running. Then 2 mins later the car stalls unless you press the "secret" button.

Loooook in the owners manual, hopefully the contact details of the origional owner is there and contact him/her and ask. Audi might be able to contact all the owners?

Looked in the owners manual with Audi but nothing.

Dont know if its an immobilizer, the car doesnt ever stop and this is only a recent problem. Plus Audi removed most of the engine during the latest repair. Im sure they would of encountered some issue then?

looks like a nestar unit, do the wires go to the doors?
