So I’ll be the first to say I don’t know anything about cars... this car went for a major service last month and was still working fine last week. Can anyone more knowledgeable than me take an educated guess based on this video wrt why the car won’t start? it’s a Citroen C2.

Does it make a sound when you try to turn the engine over? or is it just a ticki, tick noise?

Eish.... By that video there's enough juice to turn the starter so you can probably rule that out

Engines need 3 things, fuel, air and spark

Could be fuel pump or an electrical issue. I'd call whoever did the work and ask them to come check. It's probably unrelated but its worth a call.

I've had a fuel pump pack up on me as I was driving the car to the dealership for its service one time :D

Thanks, I have someone coming over to check tomorrow.

Is it just me or does that sound like the cranking is too short lived?

Let's not forget number 4: compression.

It could even be your immobilizer cutting the fuel supply

I had a similar issue on a VW Polo Classic which turned out to be a problem with the ECU aka computer box.

Best bet is to get it scanned and find out what error code, will save you alot guess work,

Take the battery terminal off for 5 minutes to reset the computer.

Apparently... the ECU was the cause for the car not starting, but upon starting it, the car guys discovered the car isn't idling well and took it to their workshop for further checking \ work to be done.

What about the ECU was causing the non start?

I listened to the video and the starter only runs for a very short time, I would have checked battery voltage and earthing points as a starting point.

Eish that's very expensive :cautious:

Not sure... didnt get detailed feedback yet... this YouTube video seems to show a similar problem to mine and in that case , the power cable to the ECU was broken.

That is strange, I am not familiar with Citroen but the likes of VAG cars have multiple 'ECU's' one of them being the engine, and if it doesn't have power not even the starter motor will work. I am interested to hear what the actual issue is, I have only ever heard of one random engine ECU failure and it was in an old C180 I owned.

Yeah OEM ECU failures are extremely rare, especially if BOSCH had anything to do with it. Wiring though and sensors especially is another story in decades old cars, I know nothing about French cars so I don't even have a suggestion for OP.
Other than employing one a mobile tech to come and diagnose fault codes, they aren't too expensive.
