Hi everyone,

I recently had a puncture on the inside wall of my tyre and had to get it replaced. New tyre costs R1000 upwards. It's quite a dent to the budget. So does anyone know if any insurance offers car tyre insurance?

Thanks

just ask your current insurer to add cover. it will cost extra but your must do the maths to see if it is worth it.

I know tiger wheel and tyre offer tyre insurance, but they won't pay the full replacement cost of the tyre, they deduct the wear so that you pay proportonailly more as the tyre gets older. Always seemed like a bit of a gimmick to me.

edit: Beaten by froot

Also Fire Stone tyres have that all hazard guarantee on their tyres but they too will cover only the unused side of the replacement.

Its a gimmick....

Don't bother, rather just save up money for things like this.. it will be cheaper in the long run.

I still get it on my tyres just in case (as with all insurance). It's about R100 on a R1000 tyre.
I can understand them deducting the "used" portion of the tire (plus 1mm as your "excess") but the problem is you buy 2 tyres, pay R2200 and then halfway through their life one dies and thus they reimburse you about R400 but you need to replace both tyres to keep them even so assuming you're buying insurance again you're down R1800 instead of R2200 so at the end of the day it's not a huge different when the tyre is reasonably used. I mainly just pay that in case I drive out the shop and something happens :p

buy firehawks tz200 tires. it comes standard with guarantee, i have them on my car and i clipped a pavement and got bubbles on front and back tires on one side, they replaced it for me with no charge as my thread was on 85% still
