I'm looking around for a new "used" car but was wondering if there are any sites out there that include a filter for natural or turbo charged engines? Reason is that 100kw Normal vs Turbo in Johannesburg is two different things.

you must know what you are buying.do research on what kinda car you would like to buy and drive.All new diesels are turbo(dont know of any aspirated diesels anymore)
most cars are aspirated with the exception of sport cars(st and gti mps,mpi or opc)

go do research on what you want.pricing,services and parts.cars are expensive.fuel even more so.work out driving cost over 100 000 KM (fuel,services,parts,tyres)

diesels lighter on fuel but much more expensive on services and maintenance

good luck car hunting. took me 8 months to get what i wanted
 
??? 100kw is 100kw it's like arguing that 100kg of feathers are lighter than 100kg of lead.

A engine with 200kw naturally aspirated in Jhb gives you the equivelant of +-140kw on the road whilst a Turbo Charged Engine that kicks out 200kw in Jhb gives you +- 180kw.
 
It's around 17% less in JHB

So 200kw is roughly 166kw in JHB while the 200kw is about 196kw (it still loses 2-3%). The gearbox reduces further.

Most ST's and C30 are 166kw/169kw and push out 135-140wkw at the highveld

Yeah I know, I'm just being pedantic :D As others have mentioned you will have to narrow it down to specific models. Autotrader/Carfind/Gumtree, none of these seem to have the detail you're after.
 
Turbochargers require a different cooldown period--effectively u need to idle the car to let the turbo spool and cool down. Most owners dont do this....

No I understand about turbo loss at lower altitudes, a unit of measure doesn't change.

I'd tend to say it the other way.

A NA car loses 17% at reef due to the density. Remember the base figures are quotes at coast anyway .

Rubbish. Just drive slowly the last kilometer of your trip to cool it down. It spools down within a matter of seconds.

Decent cars also have auxiliary water pumps to cool the turbo housing and bearings down if they're too hot when the engine is turned off.

Humidity actually robs cars of power. The water displaces oxygen molecules. The power difference is caused by different air density.
