Hi guys, so my car is wobbling side to side, it feels like it is in the front, it seems to only happen when the car is accelarating, at consistent speeds it is fine, the best way to maybe describe it is as if I am on a slightly bumpy road, it doesn't turn to the left or anything like that, I have had my wheels aligned and balanced, tyre pressure has been checked, so it's basically wobbling or maybe you could say more shuttering, anyone else have a problem like this?
The car is a opel astra gtc 1.9cdti.

Could be something along the drive train. Since it only exists while accelerating, and when accelerating, higher levels of torque are pushed through the car, which can then result in worn parts reacting to it. Easiest thing to do would be to have a mech check under the car for worn bearings, propshaft alignment, etc.

Shocks or cv would be my guess too. If the steering feels a bit loose / rattle then maybe the bushings?
Check cv's first.

Shocks? When at speed no problems and that is where shocks play biggest part (AFAIK).

1st gear up to about 2nd then thereafter no problem? My mechanic suggested clutch kit replacement.

It is mostly accelerating in 3rd and 4th, there are no noises when the car is taking sharp turns, there are absolutely no noises, the only thing I can maybe think of is the drive train or motor mounting.

Well if you think about it, being a front (or rear for that matter) wheel drive, the weight of the car shifts around during acceleration/deceleration. Whereas it stays even when travelling at a constant speed. So I reckon it might be shocks.

You can have your shocks tested for free at a place like speedy, so I'd at least try that before replacing the clutch, as that's damn expensive.

Your shocks would have to be pretty destroyed to cause this sort of thing under acceleration. You would sooner feel the symptoms of worn shocks when taking a corner, or going up unto a driveway.

Sounds like 1 of your rims could be stuffed on the front tyres. Similar thing was happening with my chick's car. Took it for wheel balancing and alignment, they found rim was stuffed.

Like i said I got the wheels alligned and balanced, guess ill go get the shocks tested on monday. I went for a diagnostics test 2 weeks ago, the only thing that came up was a faulty with the glow plugs which I got replaced, I am just so sick of being ripped off by car shops, the whole time it's like "we can do this test but it cost so much, but we dunno off that is the problem" so I am tired of paying all for all these test for it to come up with nothing nothing the whole time, it actually makes me sick that they like this.

I had a problem where I hit a pothole that slightly warped the rim, after time that wore the brakes unevenly, so naturally when I fixed the rim there was still a wobble until I got the discs skimmed. Probably not your problem though.

I live in a city, in the western cape.......pretty much having a party for the whole neighborhood if you can go 50 meters without hitting at least 5 potholes. :D
