Carbonite blocking IP's if you ping their domain

Not sure why you would arbitrarily ping any website, it's not normal end user behaviour. And in the age of ddos prevention services like cloudflare, your ping would not even reach the actual server address anyway as you would be pinging cloudflares proxy address.
 
i'm sorry but any ISP/Hosting provider who thinks blocking IPs like this is security will never get my business in a thousand years lol.

Its almost as cringe as the TracerT Kid videos from the early 2000s lol.

By the way its not pings, they're blocking you if you knock on too many ports in a short (too short) time. So ICMP + telnet to port 23 will block you, or ICMP+443 etc etc.

there are preschoolers who can do a better job of securing this lol.

Click Search and then click Advanced search which has more filtering and sorting options.

Well you're in for a surprise then (and you probably need a new isp), because a lot of the big companies use ip blocking especially with geographical region blocking. For example, the takealot website does not work if you are connecting from a non-south african ip. Cloudflare also offers geo ip blocking, and the extremely popular fail2ban program is literally an ip blocking tool.

That's a fairly normal approach to block port scanner bots, normal users do not port scan when trying to access a web resource while bots will scan every port to profile the address and see what is open to vulnerabilities, 99.9% of port scans are for malicious hacking purposes with the remaining 0.1% being the white hat hacker you paid for security testing. There is no legitimate non-malicious reason for normal end users to do port scanning.

So if you trigger a firewall on a site the site admin has full right to block your IP either temp or perm.

Like on my end we have zero florescence for firewall triggers (if you go to the admin log you will get banned specifically addresses outside of SA, in SA if you repeat it will get banned. otherwise anything else its just ban that you shouldnt be doing for example.

the site has the right to defend iself now with ping to the site its harmless but imagine someone pining it 1000 times a min that can affect the server although not really but i mean a ping just goes hey you there ..yes im here and see how fast its reaching to be honest dont test a connection on someones site rather ping Google.co.za or something (i get 26ms so its local server) (to me that is) My firefall doesnt care about that just scans and any other injectors i find DDOS attacks annoying.

if you scanning...why are you scanning? what are you looking for no legit reason.

White hat hackers sure but dont do it without the sites permission otherwise you just demanding rewards all the time.
