Hi all, Havent posted In awhile, hopefully I'm posting this in the right section, if not mods please feel free to move it accordingly.

So for the last few years (6-7) I've been working in IT full time, Firstly as an Ecommerce/IT manager for a retail chain and currently as a Sysadmin for an IT/ERP consultancy firm. However, I have never taken the time to properly certify myself for the role, I've spent countless time researching and learning my role including SQL, Virtualization via Proxmox and VMWare, Active directory, firewall config, Linux admin etc. I really enjoy what I do however I am starting to burn out at my current employer and have decided to properly certify myself so I can move on to greener pastures. I very much would like to continue in the server administration lane of what I do as it has been the most fulfilling of my roles and was wondering if anyone who is in the field would have recommendations for what certifications are being looked for currently so that I can focus my energy correctly. A+ , N+ and Server+ are being done already so am more interested in more advanced certs.

Thanks in advance

On the Linux side, the redhat certifications are one of the go to's..

Throw in a Cloud associate cert while you are at it.. AWS or Azure or both if you are really ambitious..

Do you want to certify for finding a better job? Because you aren’t just going to get more money in your current one if you do.

A+/N+ etc is really a waste if you already have experience in the role, that’s more for an entry level person to show they’ve done something.

As was said above do a Linux certification (Redhat being the best) or go down the cloud road with AWS/Azure/GCP.

Then depending where that takes you some experience is Terraform or Ansible and the like won’t hurt.

Be mindful certifications only get you in the door when looking at CV’s and don’t mean anything during an interview process. As such a really good cover letter can achieve the same.
