Big drop in demand for software developers in South Africa

Software development jobs have seen a substantial drop in labour demand — the largest decrease among all the sectors and roles tracked in CareerJunction’s latest Employment Insights Report.

CareerJunction compared recruitment activity between 2019 and 2023 to see how demand across sectors and for specific roles has changed over time.

And yet the jobs section of MyBB is full of trolls and whiners.
I certainly wouldn't use CareerJunction to advertise either.

I'm a Software developer and I don't think I ever used CareerJunction. I'll go check them out because I'm looking for a job. Guess the advertising works

There has been a drop in junior-intermediate level positions (based on my experience).

It would be nice to compare these Insights with other data from different platforms to get a better picture of what is going on in these industries.

I visited CareerJunction now. Most of the results for "Software developer" in Western Cape or Remote are posted by recruiting companies. Therein lies the problem. Most developers dislike recruiting companies because they waste our time. There is a "massive" misalignment with what the company is looking for and what the recruiting company is looking for.

Rough skills? - because we are hiring ;)
