Hi all

I'm looking to have a carport/shadeport built for one car. Nothing fancy, just run of the mill, 4 legs with normal shade cloth.

Does anybody know of someone reputable in Cape Town who does this for a reasonable price? Also, what price range am I looking at?

I've got R 6000 - R8000 in my head but I'm really hoping I can get away with cheaper without the thing falling apart at the first sign of wind :o

we had a 3 car cantilever put up at work for R8270 incl vat this year but i am jhb side

WHat are you looking for? I mean if you want a cost effective solution why dont you plant 4x poles (set them in concrete if you wish) and use shade cloth for your exact needs. It can be done on a Saturday morning. Might cost you less than a grand.

I want something that looks professional and won't collapse in Capetonian winds, and I don't think my own concoction is going to meet those requirements :D Just want a run of the mill shadeport like you see at airports/office parks.

Hi. Did you manage to find someone? I am thinking of getting somethin similar.

Nope, I never put one up in the end. I phoned around and it turned out more expensive that I would have liked.

I don't see how you can't build one yourself for much cheaper, and maybe get a friend or 2 to help. My dad used to make use kids help him, with him doing most of the hard work, us just holding things in place when he needed the extra hands, or carrying stuff around.

Pretty sure, the materials will still cost you a bit, but it will be much cheaper, and can still be wind resistant if done right. Personally, I would use something better than a cloth though.
