So I have been having endless performance problems on Vodacom's 3G network from my iPad. Max throughput topping out at 2.2Mbps. High Latency. Sporadic service. Time outs. HTTP resets. I called 155 to get some help and they told me the iPad is an unsupported device because a. Its not approved on their network yet, and b. There are no Microsims in service yet so its obvious that I chopped a normal SIM (which I did
).
I have been having similar problems on Vodacom from my iPhone, and tried explaining that, but alas, deaf ears.
So I decided to go buy a MTN sim, chop it, and see how it went. Much much better. 6Mbps average download, far snappier browsing, much lower ping.
My question therefor is, to other iPad 3G users : what have your experiences been like? Anyone else noticed the massive difference between Vodacom and MTN?
