Carrier Settings Update 15.5 for iPad

I keep getting the carrier update push message but nothing ever happens, I'm still stuck on 15.0. With my iPhone on 15.5, Personal Hotspot sharing is now broken.

I'm using the Afrihost APN on both devices and had no issue on my iPhone. For the iPad, I've tried removing the Afrihost APN but to no avail. I just keep getting the carrier push messages...

Any ideas on how to resolve?

Ya...I'm taking a guess here that I need to buy some MTN data to power the mymtn APN.

Same problem here. Tried removing iPad restrictions, no difference. Keep getting "Carrier settings must be updated "

I do notice the field Carrier has "Carrier 15.5" instead of MTN

Wild guess MTN data have not yet heard of device 'iPad New'

What iPad model do you have and what version of iOS are you running?

Edit: I've looked at the OTA carrier bundle releases for MTN and there is no 15.5 OTA. 15.5 would have been rolled into iOS 7.

I'd suggest a backup and restore to 7.0.4 and check the settings again. Once confirmed it's on 15.5 and hotspot is there, restore your settings and apps.

I have an iPad Air

Came with 7.0.3
OTA to 7.0.4

Mobile Data Number is also "unknown". (I wonder if this will stop WASP spam?)
Haven't been able to get LTE to work either
And it keeps dropping tethering

Afrihost support have not come across this, nor know of an iPad 'Air'

This seems to be an MTN Apple issue

Afrihost have advised me to take the iStore bought iPad with Afrihost data to MTN store ...

Does 3G on the device work? i.e. can you access the internet with the Afrihost SIM?

Have you tried a SIM from another provider?

3G works
Afrihost SIM otherwise functioning

Yea, that's the another troubleshooting few hours to waste. .,, try another SIM, try Afrihost's SIM in another device ...
Kinda defeated the whole iEasy approach that attracts me to Apple

So are you constantly being prompted for a carrier bundle update even though you are on 15.5?

Has anyone managed to get a fix? I sit with the same issue. went and got a LTE sim from MTN for my iPad but i cant seem to get LTE, just stays on 3G. when i check the carrier updates, it's on 15.5 and says there is new settings, but when i click update, nothing happens.

Still no LTE on my ipad 4.. really sucks!

This is definitely an MTN problem only. I'm now using a Vodacom SIM and the push message has stopped.

@cobusv: I used MTN LTE on my iPad 4 without issue. Your problem is a provisioning one.

Thanks Azimuth you are correct, it was MTN, they had to reset the LTE VAS en re-provision again.. eventually this morning after 2 days the service was active on my iPad... and i have to admit.. i love the speed... very impressed with MTN speeds

BTW, why did you go Vodacom instead of staying with MTN? ive tested the vodacom lte and find the MTN lte much faster even in the middle of the day...

Just out of curiosity

Long story short, I'm caught by the short and curlies with 2 Voda contracts I cannot shake. Previously I turned to Afrihost-MTN as Voda 3G became unusable at work around June 2013.

This weekend I accidentally activated the LTE APN and found Vodacom 4G to work like a bomb. So I'll use Voda until the contracts are up.

Thanks Azimuth. I have the EXACT same problem. iPad 4 with Afrihost sim that (i) keeps asking to update carrier settings, (ii) have never seen "LTE" top-left, (iii) hot-spot works for max 5 min and (iv) repeatedly drops connection completely saying "No service", then reconnects and drops again.

I am going to buy a Vodacom sim and move on with my life! lol, 1st world problems
