Did anyone watch it last night?
That black guy barking like a dog at the journalist. Saying "thats your problem". What a moron.
Also that Fidentia scandal? Seems there may be something really funny going on there.

The corruption in SA just does not stop. It is unbelievable.

And the irony of the two is that Mr Brown is in so much **** he will likely never rehabilitate himself whereas the other "that's your problem" dude will get off scot free.

Goes to show you that there is always three sides to a story, where the truth is the least known.:(

And in almost every instance of the two stories above you will find things like commission, fees, administrative costs, auctioneering costs, operating expenses etc are the key drivers.

In Fidentia's case the Curators will take years to complete the liquidation and it is likely that the organisations involved will be sum the richer.

With the Acre of Africa story it is a well known problem that many charities have very high expenses. It is just the percentage that needs to be looked at. Think of it this way .. you place R1.00 in a Charity Tin while you are at the shop from your change. How much of every Rand that is donated actually goes to people that need it? Hence why I don't put money into Charities as I don't know what happens thereafter.

Yeah, and we are all part of that problem. I note on many threads people using corrupt means to get them out of trouble, be it with traffic fines or whatever.

I am not sure about the methods you used to assist people with stolen phones, could these be somewhat corrupt?

Same here, I donate money, food, clothes, (whatever) directly to the underprivileged just taking a short drive to where they are - never donate to organisations, particularly in SA with many of the organisations guilty of major corruption/embezzlement (Boesak comes to mind).
Was the Fidentia case triggered by investor complaints?

If Fedentia was bad to the core, then the investigation and prosecution should be transparent - seeing that curator, I know that something is fishy there. Maybe Arthur Brown was not BEE compliant?

"That's your problem" guy just smacks of ANC arrogance and lack of accountability.

Oh, yes, but in a normal country you don't get threatened with fines everytime you are stopped for anything, warnings are actually quite a popular reaction. I've never had a warning. WTF is up with that?

Another great show last night. The My Acre of Africa seems to me have gone a bit pear shaped when they were not selling enough bricks. So they dreamed up some other way of making money, and this "theme park" would IMO, have the tourists flocking there. But rather leave the park alone, IMO.

I'm sorry the Fidentia piece came across to me a bit of a puff piece on Mr Browns behalf. He kept on saying "we never missed a payment". But never did he say we did no wrong. And by the way one of the curator explains how Fidentia did business, like a pyramid scheme, there would always be money available to pay investors at the top, at the expense of new investors. And it all came down when they could not get approval to get that R 4 Billion fund manager. With those sort of funds, the party could have gone on for years to come. But they did not bargain of the FSB's investigations of both parties before the deal is approved. And we all know what happened thereafter.

Good on Carte Blanche for trying to show the other side of the story, but IMO, it only came of looking like Brown and Co had a great run while they could, and now the party is over.
 
The Fidentia saga still has a long way to go and I highly doubt if either party involved is truly 'innocent victims'. As for the acre of africa thing, I did'nt expect much anyways but I now have a new excuse to use when under attack - "That's your problem!" Loved to look on the guys face when he was shown the numbers in black and white in one of his documents.

Thanks for the post sox.. I was in two minds after seeing the Fidentia thing.. I thought he might have been innocent and could not understand how, if he was so innocent, things went so wrong..

The curator didn't come across as though he was completely above board though?

And why does Arthur Brown keep professing innocence if there is absolute proof that he is guilty?

Acre of Africa dude is a twat.. Did not find it funny at all, wanted to slap him..
 
I can tell you this. My Acre of Africa aren't going to be selling any more bricks in a hurry.
 
Did anyone noticed the lotto commision of 8% promised to someone? Were they talking about the national lotto?

Why do we have trials? Not everyone confesses their guilt. In fact, he might just be a pathological liar. But as the CEO it is highly unlikely that he was actively monitoring every single payment made, and his "we never missed a payment" comment means nothing coming from him.

There are so many points where Fidentia cocked up it is ludicrous and there are plenty more people involved that JAB. There is also Piet Bothma, June Dube (I am still sure she had knowledge of the investments - she must have), Graham Maddock, Steven Goodwin (who fled - ask yourself why;)), Alan Kukard, Rudi Bam and a few others whose names elude me. And that's just in the Teta scandal of R200m, of which Teta saw R15m back, let alone the Living Hands funds that went missing as well. JAB and his cronies are guilty as sin on paper, pathological liars and crooks in person.

I couldn't believe the arrogance of the man. He lost all credibility in that interview and they will certainly not see a cent of my money...

Yes I heard that, and I'm sure they were also reaping benefits from the National Lotto.

I stopped buying SA Lotto some time ago, and now buy UK National Lotto tickets online.

thought nobody watched Carte Blanche anymore, after all the publicity they gave to pseudo-scientists .... perpetual motion, the guy that finds dead ppl by just feeding a hair to his (scientific machine), etc, etc, etc .......... that was when I stopped watching Carte Blanche ...
