You should also ask how strict they are about female dress code.

May I ask which hotel you stayed at? I have no idea of quality there and Tripadvisor is confusing - some people rate a place as excellent and others say it sucks!

Barcelo Hotel

Hotels and the city itself is like any main European hub. The hotel is typical 4 star. Restaurants are great too, good variety of Western chains (pizza hut, McDonalds, KFC) and local places. Not much different to walking around Cape Town CBD.

Dress code is super chill, didn't notice women having to cover up at all. If you visit the mosques this may be different, but I can't recall or didn't notice.
