Cashing Forgein exchange cheque

Hi guys,

My friend in the US sent me a cheque for $150 that I need to cash because we don't have PayPal in SA and I helped her out with her website.

Can places like Rennies cash them or do I have to go to a bank with exchange control? I'm too lazy to drive the extra km's to go to one of the branches of my bank that has exchange facilities...

Only with a bank that has a foreign exchange branch, meaning I have to go into town to do it and not at my regular branch. However, next to my regular branch is a Rennies Exchange. Full circle back to the OP....

Can I cash the cheque at a Rennies Exchange (or similar) or not?

This is messy, apparently you should get hold of the issuing bank and ask them who they are prepared to honour the cheque at.

But, Rennies Exchange will be able to advise you, if not serve you.

I have a moneybookers account but they felt it would be easier to write me a cheque.... go figure...
