cast android phone to firestick

not the 4k firestick

and not mirroring

is it possible to cast like i would to a chromecast. and be able to use my phone without what's on my tv changing?
 
Should work if you just cast from your pc to the Chromecast. Use your phone then as you'd like to.

No, iirc there is, or was, an app that let you sort of do it.

Click Tools in Chrome, then the Cast option.
If ti's on the same network it will detect the Chromecast.
If you only want to cast video, then use Sodaplayer.
That's what I usually did.

am i missing something here where you are talking about a chromecast and i am talking about a firestick?

Wondering the same ... , Firestick can be cast to, but it is not a Chromecast, and lacking information on what is different, have not tried casting to mine yet.

Find a lot of articles on how to mirror to Firestick, but not cast to it ala Chromecast. :(
