Cataloguing software

I was looking for a photo the other day although I knew which aperture library it was on I couldn't quickly locate the hdd it was on. Can anyone recommend any cataloguing apps?

As you can see my photo archive is a bit of a mess - and that's just the half of it. The rest is on DVD

Where Is It

The archive? It was on one of the 2.5" drives.

Aperture is a pretty good DAM - I've just happened to make it rather impractical. I'm thinking of getting a drobo down the line but right not I'm stuck with the loose drives.

I've used it in the past but I don't recall it being Aperture library friendly.

I guess I should quit complaining that my photo library and iTunes library together need 500GB
