Caterer's Grade

I bought frozen peas at Makro. The package says "Caterer's grade" on it. What exactly does that mean? Is it better/worse than standard consumer grade?

The peas look perfectly fine - I'm just curious because I've never seen it before. Its always "export grade" or "grade A" etc.

I once bought caterer's mince from Makro, which was a mixture of beef and mutton mince and had a horrible taste.

haha nice. Didn't expect so much detail. So essentially caterer's grade is inferior.

Caterer's grade

Higher starch content, harder, lower sugar content. Poorer colour.

I liked that the caterer's ones came in transparent plastic though so I could look at them. Last retail ones I bought had brown dots on them.
