WoW players who are looking for a wireless connection beware. Vodacom sux-in Port Elizabeth at least. Latencies are consistently above 1000 ms with spiking, making BG largely unplayable. With MTN, you can get 400-600ms with far fewer spikes. I'm presuming Vodacom have too many customers, and obviously don't give a damn about it.

Why did i waste money on a 500 meg databundle, WHY!?!

Vodacom was fine a few months ago, suddenly i'm lucky if i get any data through at all. Avg 900ms with frequent spikes of over 40 seconds. Unfortunately mtn dont provide 3G in my area and GPRS is obviously not an option. /cry

Vodacom started being problematic around Jun - July 2007 (actually earlier I think). A couple of us who were using 3G HSDPA complained bitterly but to no avail. I eventually went ADSL unshaped and cancelled my 3G contract. I am going to use the E620 as a backup with a prepaid sim from MTN.

Just a quick question...can you use a MTN simcard in a Vodacom E220 modem?

Yes you can, the Modems are not allowed to be network locked ;)

My vodacom usb modem is network locked, and so is my mtn pcmcia card.I think if you own the modem you can insist on having it unlocked if it is (I know someone who did) - not sure about contract.

I use a MTN sim in a Vodafone pcmcia card in my router. Just update the firmware from the MTN site and it works like a charm.

Take it to the retailer, they need to unlock it or replace it. There is an ICASA rulling that was done on phones being network locked. Unless that was over turned or something that I'm not aware of.
