CCMDD - Chronic meds pickups

I'm on chronic meds.
It's an issue each month to get my meds, due to transport, time, money etc.
Sitting hours at the hospital just to collect meds at the Pharmacy.

I found this yesterday:

It seems like a Government initiative with Clicks that was started in 2016 according to a News24 article I read. So my meds could be sent to a Clicks store near me and I need to renew my prescription every 6 months.

I tried to contact them via Whatapp today and yesterday, but haven't received a response.

Do you know of anyone that uses this service and what are the steps to get it done?

According to their site a healthcare professional needs to register me and I can use the service. The problem is the staff and doctors at the hospital I visit are miles away from being clued up with anything. So I'm looking for more info and the procedures so I can give them the correct information.

Thanks for your replies.

Something different. Have you tried Clicks direct medicines, they deliver to your door.

I receive Government issued medication = no cost to me.

I can't pay Clicks for meds. Otherwise I would be using proper meds and not substitutes.

Yeah not sure. We just email the script to pharmacy and then they deliver the meds.

But my bro was on state hospital meds, the only way to get it is to go to that dysfunctional and incompetent place once a month and sit there for hours.

I know it's not what you are asking - sorry can't help on that one, but check if your healthcare facility is offering 2-3 months supply at a single time? I know at the start of the lockdown it was done, and some are still doing it.

Yep. Problem is I'm suicidal and had multiple attempts from 2016 going forward.

They won't give me a stash. I doubt they do it with any mental health patients.

Our domestic gets her meds like this, the Doctor that you see at the state hospital/clinic must register you on this, then you choose the location that you would like to collect from. Is usually only valid between Doctor's visits.

Thank you (and everyone else for the responses).

I'll talk to a Doctor next week when I'm there.

Wishing you well!

I know there's a separate mental health thread, but I'll take this opportunity to ask everyone to take care of their mental health and seek help before it's too late. An ex-colleague took his own life a few months ago, seemingly out of nowhere for those who worked with him.

Thank you and I agree. Getting help is the first step. The rest will fall into place. I've been on these meds for 15+ years (not exact same ones). It's not a fun road. I lost a colleague as well a few years ago due to suicide. Broke me at the time. We weren't that close, but it effected me worse than when my Dad passed away.
