Hi all, ive got a CCTV setup in my business connected to my PC for live feed and record/playback. The problem is, im not getting any clarity. 1stly the picture quality is crap, you can see the pixel blocks and 2ndly theres a slight jerk in the movement.Theres also a lot of glare when the sun is out, the picture is almost completely white. The business is a petrol station so i kinda need the clarity to view number plates.

I dont have much knowledge on these things all i know is the cameras are all 480lines and 1 of em are 530 lines. Then i have 4 of those dome cameras as well.

Any1 know of a way i can better my system?

Im in Cape Town and nope i dont have any of the make or models on hand, ill have to open up the case to get it but if needed i could do that.

Did you setup the system yourself or did you get someone to do it for you?

If you hired someone to do it, think you should get the contractor out there again to check cameras. Perhaps they sold you incorrect cameras for your application or did not commission it correctly?

If you did it yourself, mmmmm...think you need to get someone there to check it out anyways. Cameras aint that easy as it seems :)

I know of a reputable company that can assist you (not me :) ). Let me know if you need that contact.

PS. Is the cameras "IP (Network)" or "Analog"?

I got sum1 to do it for me, the problem is i dont wana deal with them anymore they just a waste of time. Like i said before i dont know anything about these things but i THINK its analogue. Its connected with co-ax cables.

Can you please give me the details maybe they can help me.

my reccomendation is to contact a system integrator or installer of CCTV. The problems you are experiencing with the cams may be solved with a reconfiguration for your environment. Good analog cams have quite a few adjustments on the cam itself. then you still have more settings on the DVR. A good installer will sort this out quickly for you. As mentioned there is a possibility you were sold the wrong cams.

As for the jerkiness on the DVR sounds like you dont have a realtime system (25fps p/ch). This is a specification on the caputure card and may need to be replaced if you are not happy with the performance.

I'm not based in CT so cant help but call ADI international and ask for numbers of their best installers. (021) 511-0950
