Can anyone recommend cameras and or suppliers for a home based CCTV system that I am looking to build? I am planning to use Zoneminder to control 2 or 3 cameras on the exterior of my house and looking for reasonably priced weatherproof night enabled cameras.

Thanks,
Russell.

IP based or normal analog cameras? and wired or wireless?

If analog and wired, I got my capture card from here:

Just about any analog camera will work, just check the IP rating for the weatherproof abilities. Regal Security in randburg has cameras, no idea on the pricing though.....

Just buy the Crimping Tools, cabling, BNC connectors, Cameras, etc for your self and assemble it all.

You can get the stuff you need online or from many different security shops. Esquire or Matrix also sell the stuff quite cheap.

It's not that hard.

The problem with those are the quality. I would say don't go for anything with a resolution of 640 x 480 or lower.

In Camera terms... Dont go less that 480TVL.

Try a place called Hitek Security, they are very good, well priced, and carry 3yr warranty. We use their stuff for our Analogue hardware and never had any kinds of issues.
