It is just a bad connector. The change in temperature triggers the blue screen display.

But why does it play on the tv, when I switch connector to tv?
Power supply the same. BNC to VGA convertor only difference.
Will try a splitter. Use monitor in day and TV at night, since no real need at night.
PS no problems on TV before connecting to monitor?

how is the converter powered?

Its like the phone chargers.
This morning ... monitor changed from blue to images. So I suspect you correct ... infrared pulls too much power?

infrared makes the camera require more power when it is on, you can confirm this with a helper, get them to go cover the sensor on the camera while you watch the screen.
