We have private company putting up CCTV cameras in our town. The one side of me likes the idea, but I am very interested in what the law says about this. Is it legal to monitor the public, of course their intentions are good, fight crime etc. but what are the laws regarding this ?

all legal requirement for the UK is that you should make visible to the public that

They are being monitored by cctv cameras
Note the company's name who operates the camera & their contact details

Think its a great idea to curb crime in South Africa.

I think he's trying to tell OP to take down the company's contact details in case he needs it in future

Ok. The lack of punctuation marks makes it difficult to comprehend :o.
