Hey Guys

I updated my computer motherboard and Cpu (Mobo MIS H310M Pro VH PLus).

The cd drive was not visible so I updated the bios to the latest version. I then followed instructions below but after deleting the hiding CD rom in device manager I dont have the ATA channel;s they are talking about or the Upper filters in the registry.

Any idea how I can fix the cd/dvd rom ? (It is an asus drw 24d5mt)

Thanks

Ram is also running at 2133 and not 2400, any idea how i fix this ?

Enable xmp profile if it has it.

Check in bios, you might need to switch the sata ports to ahci to enable the optical drive. Or something like that.

Thanks fixed the ram. There is no harm in switching the Sata ports?

Well I can burn DVD's once I get the problem fixed, storing 4.7 GB with ease

Why DVD's tho (as opposed to an external hdd) - are you burning movies to watch on another device?

No I never use the optical drive but my wife does for work, training manuals are given to workers with CD drives and no internet.

I see my Sata ports are already AHCI

1. Try connecting the optical drive to a different (physical) SATA port. Although your board specs don't list an M.2 slot, a note on the board advises:
When a device in SATA mode is installed on the M.2 socket, SATA_2 port cannot be used

2. While the machine is open and you're messing with the ports, try a different SATA cable.

3. What other options do you have in the BIOS for your SATA ports? IIRC, switching from AHCI to something else (IDE?) causes issues with booting Windows so be wary of doing so willy-nilly.

Found the error it was with the sata cable. Amateur hour
